As soon as Mardi Gras is over, Brazil is already thinking about next year Carnival. This celebration is such an important part of the Brazilian culture that it requires a year-long meticolous preparation: carnival floats, music, blocos (different groups of people that parade the streets) and, of course, carnival costumes.

Carnival is a never-ending source of inspiration also amongst Brazilian artists, creatives and designers, like Thais Bernardes that has decided to dedicate a special jewelry capsule to the most chaotic and entertaining days of the year. “The inspiration, as usual, comes from my land, from the “richness” of both Brazilian culture and nature. As a final touch, (To top it all) the brand also benefits from the excellent Italian craftmanship that allows me to create uniquely designed jewels. That’s the soul of my brand” states the designer.

The Carnival collection introduces a new version of the Chevalier ring, a classic from the previous collection: a mini version made of 18 carats yellow gold and 9 carats rose gold, with precious stone, such as black diamond, pink or yellow sapphire, set right in the center on a colorful hand-enameled background. “The gemstones, surrounded by colorful enamels such as blue, pink, yellow, green and the more recent black version, resembles the confetti” says the designer.

The capsule also includes 18 carats yellow gold and 9 carats rose gold bracelets and earring that resembles the streamers. In addition to the gemstones set on enameled background, the jewels rounded shape is embellished with stripe-shaped pendants. ”These serpentinas – the Brazilian name for streamers – are removable. Therefore, all the earrings from this collection can be worn with or without pendants” points out Thais.

There is another important feature of this collection that is worth mentioning: the designer has signed a partnership agreement with Fairmined, a program that guarantees that the 18 carats yellow gold used in her collections is mined by eco-friendly and socially responsible mining companies.

“The gold used in my creations is responsibly mined in south America, mostly in Bolivia, Peru and Colombia, within local artisanal communities, in accordance with the miners working conditions and with the utmost respect for nature. The buyers, pay an extra fee, in addition to the price of gold, that is reinvested to support local communities projects “ explains Thais, adding that all creations are 100% designed and made in Italy and built to last.

A new step forward towards sustainability after the initiative in support of Survival International where the designer has devolved part of the proceeds of her Cipò collection.
