The signet ring (or Chevalier): a symbol of importance<\/b><\/p>\n

Many people today own and wear signet rings, also called chevalier rings. These are an expression of individuality and affirmation, as well as being extremely trendy. Sometimes they can also represent an ancient family effigy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Indeed, the signet ring played an important cultural symbol in the past and played a surprisingly significant role in history.<\/p>\n

Originally, these signet rings, decorated with the family crest, were used to stamp or sign important documents. Before the advent of technology, it was common for all the most influential people in the world to possess these rings and use them to confirm the authenticity of any official document.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each ring was unique and contained, on the one hand, the family coat of arms and, on the other, a significant mark that personally identified the owner. These historical chevaliers were subjected to very careful analysis to ensure that the final stamp was\u00a0 <\/span>corrected once used as a print on a document. Naturally, this level of sophistication made the rings expensive and very difficult to copy.<\/p>\n

These seals were used as early as 3500 BC.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Records show, in fact, that the people of Mesopotamia used cylindrical stamps as signs of authentication and this indeed seems to be the origin of the signing process, but as time has evolved, these signet rings have changed a great deal, also becoming fashionable objects. In shops we can find rings made of gold, silver or even rings made of less precious metals and of different sizes and shapes.<\/p>\n
