The stone of the month for March is aquamarine.
The name Aquamarine comes from the Latin for seawater and ancient sailors claimed that the gem would calm the waves and keep sailors safe at sea.
This March lucky stone was also thought to bring happiness in marriage. It was believed to give the wearer protection against enemies in battle and to make the wearer invincible and lovable.
Natural deep blue aquamarines are the rarest and most valuable. Chemically, aquamarine is a type of beryl, the same mineral group as morganite and emerald, and is characterised by large, six-sided crystals that can grow up to a foot in size. This makes aquamarine an ideal gemstone for the production of high-carat pieces that, when faceted or polished, make exceptional reflections.
Another significant aspect of aquamarine that makes it so valuable is that it is often visually flawless, as there are rarely inclusions that can be seen with the naked eye, and it has fewer fractures than emerald.

In the contemporary world, aquamarines have found an important place as engagement rings. In fact, it has become very fashionable among millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) to wear engagement rings with an aquamarine set in rose gold.
Even the likes of Justin Timberlake could not be left behind, as he gave two aquamarines for his engagement to Jessica Biel.
